I went through a phase of ordering KFC Mini Fillets every single week. They're small, they're crispy, they're satisfying, and they feel lighter than the big burgers. I'd get six of them and convince myself I was being sensible. Eventually I got curious and actually looked up the calorie count, and I learned something that changed how I think about portion sizes.

KFC Mini Fillet Calories

A single KFC Mini Fillet is one of the smaller items on the KFC UK menu - a bite-sized piece of chicken fillet coated in KFC's signature seasoned batter. Based on KFC's own nutrition data, a single Mini Fillet contains approximately 85–100 kcal per piece.

That means:

  • 3 Mini Fillets: approximately 255–300 kcal
  • 6 Mini Fillets: approximately 510–600 kcal
  • 10 Mini Fillets: approximately 850–1,000 kcal

When I was ordering six of them, I was eating somewhere in the region of 550 kcal from just the chicken. Add fries and a drink, and my "light" order wasn't quite as light as I'd imagined.

Protein in KFC Mini Fillets

This is where Mini Fillets genuinely earn their place. Because they're made from chicken breast fillet - the same high-protein meat as the full-size burgers - each Mini Fillet contains a reasonable amount of protein relative to its size. Six Mini Fillets will give you around 25–35g of protein, which makes them a decent choice if you're eating a higher-protein diet.

For reference, the Fillet Burger (one piece of chicken, 463 kcal) contains 28.8g of protein. Six Mini Fillets at a similar protein level but across more pieces actually gives you similar protein for similar calories - so the mini format isn't necessarily more efficient, just more fun to eat.

Are KFC Mini Fillets Healthier Than the Big Burgers?

This is the question I was implicitly asking myself every time I ordered them. The honest answer: not necessarily. Mini Fillets are lower in calories per piece, but if you're ordering six or ten of them, you're eating more total chicken (and therefore more total calories and fat) than a single burger would give you.

The Zinger Burger, for example, is 468 kcal and 23g of protein. Six Mini Fillets might give you similar calories and protein in a different format. The choice is really about preference rather than dramatic nutritional difference.

Where Mini Fillets genuinely shine is as a sharing option or a controlled smaller meal. Three Mini Fillets with a Corn Cobette (57 kcal) and a regular drink comes in under 500 kcal - which is genuinely a light fast food meal.

Mini Fillets and Salt

Like all KFC items, Mini Fillets carry a reasonable salt load. The batter and seasoning are where most of the sodium lives. If you're having a large portion, this is worth being aware of.

Use the Calculator to See Your Mini Fillet Total

The great thing about Mini Fillets is that they're easy to portion. You can add exactly the number you want to eat in the KFC calories calculator and see your calorie, protein, fat, and salt totals instantly.

I now order three or four Mini Fillets rather than six, paired with BBQ Beans (93 kcal) and a zero-cal drink. It's still a proper KFC. It just fits into my day more comfortably.

Try building your order in the calculator before you go - it takes less than a minute and means no mental arithmetic at the counter when you're hungry and the queue is moving.
