The Fillet Burger was the first thing I ever ordered at KFC, and in some ways it's still my benchmark for everything else on the menu. It's the simplest expression of what KFC does - one piece of chicken fillet, batter, bun, sauce, lettuce. Nothing complicated. And for a long time it was my default order without me ever thinking about the nutrition.
When I finally looked it up, the Fillet Burger turned out to be the sort of number that actually makes sense - which is rare in fast food.
KFC Fillet Burger Calories
The KFC Fillet Burger contains 463 kcal according to KFC's UK nutrition data. The full breakdown:
- Calories: 463 kcal
- Energy: 1942 kJ
- Protein: 28.8g
- Carbohydrates: 43g
- Fat: 18.7g
- Saturated Fat: 2.2g
- Sugars: 6.5g
- Salt: 2.2g
463 kcal with 28.8g of protein. That's a strong protein-to-calorie ratio for a fast food burger. For context, a chicken breast (grilled, no coating) at about the same weight would give you similar protein with fewer calories - but we're not talking about grilled chicken here, and that's fine.
Is the KFC Fillet Burger the Healthiest KFC Burger?
Among the standard KFC burgers, the Fillet Burger is one of the better options in terms of fat content (18.7g) and calorie efficiency relative to protein (28.8g). The Zinger Burger is similar in calories (468 kcal) but slightly lower in protein (23g) and slightly higher in fat (22g).
For overall nutritional balance, the Fillet Burger is a solid choice. Not healthy in an absolute sense, but reasonable for fast food.
What About the Fillet Tower Burger?
The Fillet Tower Burger steps things up considerably:
- Calories: 604 kcal
- Protein: 32.1g
- Carbohydrates: 55.5g
- Fat: 27g
- Salt: 3.3g
That's 141 kcal more than the standard Fillet Burger, mostly coming from the additional hash brown layer. The protein is meaningfully higher at 32.1g, which might justify the extra calories if you're specifically eating for muscle or satiety.
My own rule: I get the standard Fillet Burger unless I'm genuinely very hungry and skipping fries. The Tower is the meal replacement, the standard is the lunchtime choice.
Fillet Burger as Part of a Sensible KFC Meal
Fillet Burger (463 kcal) + BBQ Beans regular (93 kcal) + Corn Cobette (57 kcal) + water = 613 kcal. That's a filling, proper KFC meal with nearly 35g of protein, no fries needed.
Or Fillet Burger + Regular Fries (261 kcal) + zero-cal drink = 724 kcal. Still a manageable total for lunch.
